Allied Air Conditioning & Refrigeration recommend servicing regular air conditioning systems at least once a year to increase efficiency, prolong unit lifespan and as preventative maintenance. Regular maintenance allows the discovery and repair of small problems before they become costly issues.
1. The AC system isn’t blowing cool (or warm) air.
If the system isn’t cooling or heating a room effectively this may mean that the system has a fault.
2. Does the AC system have any strange noises or smells coming from it?
Most AC systems should be nearly silent, if the machine is making unusual noises, then it is likely that there is something wrong with the unit & needs a repair to prevent further damage. If the system smells it could be from a build-up of dirt etc and needs a good clean.
3. AC system is leaking or has excess moisture.
If the outdoor unit has a small amount of moisture on it (condensation) this is ok. However, if there is a large amount of liquid, particularly inside the building, this is a major problem as there could be a refrigerant leak. Refrain from touching the liquid, stop using the unit and schedule a service. If water is coming out of the unit it is likely a clogged drain tube, whilst this isn’t as dangerous as a refrigerant leak, it can lead to larger problems if ignored.
4. Limited Airflow
Limited airflow is usually caused by dirty filters which will need cleaning, or there could be a blockage somewhere in the duct. Also, regular wear and tear of the unit reduces the efficiency of the compressor; a failing compressor can cause reduced airflow.
5. Unexplained increase in electricity bills
When an air conditioning system isn’t regularly maintained, efficiency is reduced and that often means higher electricity bills. To keep your rooms’ cool when vents are blocked, the air conditioning system must work harder than before to achieve the same result, causing an increase in energy usage.
For our services we will:
– Clean the filters
– Clean out drains as required
– Check the electrics
– Check outdoor unit for corrosion
– Check the systems operation
– Advise of any potential problems
